Shortly after moving back to Florida, from Toronto, I became friends with a local florist. She impressed me from the moment I first saw her work.
She pours her heart into every little detail. This friend, Meghan, former owner of Flowers by Milk & Honey had a vision for a Dutch Masterpiece inspired shoot. I eagerly said, yes, to shoot her beautiful styling and florals.
It was the first time our little group of artists banded together to create something pretty. It was just the beginning of many more to come.
The palette is a deviation from what I usually capture, but I love the elegance and timeless appeal that it has in rich jewel tones. All to the backdrop of The Maitland Art Center
Meghan's inspiration was Jan Davidsz. de Heem’s “Festoon of Fruit and Flowers”. She said, "The painting’s dark shadows, blends of deep reds and yellows, and pops of vibrant blue draw you in to its world. We wanted to translate this glamorous and mysterious mood to a wedding celebration, because what better occasion to honor abundance and richness of life!"
