FAQ: What is your artistic style?

April 6, 2016 debra eby

So, you guys, your wedding photographer is your storyteller.  It sounds a little cheesy, I know.  But these images share your story for generations to come.  This is why it's so important to choose a photographer who speaks your style language.  (p.s. if that style involves marble texture to any of you, um, we need to talk, like, today.  My newest obsesh.)

As you peruse portfolios, be on the lookout for aesthetic, personality, and voice.  Let's chat more about this via blogcast.

xoxo

FAQ: What equipment do you use?

April 2, 2016 debra eby

Full disclosure: I find the tech details a snore.  It kept me away from professional photography for years prior to opening my doors.  However, they are important to my art, so therefore I make it a priority.

One thing to remember about equipment - is the artist using it.  A world class photographer makes iPhone pictures look professional.  As long as there is back-up gear, who you are hiring is far more important than the equipment that they use.

Here is a description of the equipment that I use during the course of a wedding day.

Kind of obsessed with pretty camera straps.

  • CAMERA BODY CANON EOS 5D MARK III, CANON EOS 5D MARK II

  • CAMERA LENSES CANON EF 85 MM F/1.2L, CANON EF 50 MM F/1.4, CANON EF 35 MM F/2.0, MACRO EXTENSIONS

  • LIGHTING CANON 600EX-RT SPEEDLITE FLASH, OFF CAMERA VIDEO LIGHTS

  • EDITING ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS5.1

FAQ: Copyright, Insurance, Experience & Emergencies - Oh my!

April 2, 2016 debra eby

Sometimes I wish you could see my behind-the-scenes over here.

My 3-year-old is prancing around in her high heels and purse on our wood and tile floors.  I keep re-setting my audio and trying to distract her with Paw Patrol and Animal Crackers.  I  know, totes world's best mom over here.

Without further distraction (plus, I'm pretty sure I've maxed out healthy screen time limit for a day), your next blogcast installment.

Do you have insurance?

Absolutely!  I can send that paperwork to your venue or planner upon request.

DO WE HAVE THE COPYRIGHT TO ALL THE IMAGES?

WORKING WITH ME, YOU WILL HAVE FULL PERMISSION FOR ANY KIND OF PERSONAL USE OF THE IMAGES.  YOU MAY PRINT AND SHARE AWAY!

I, HOWEVER, RETAIN COPYRIGHT.  IF YOU HAVE SIGNED AN IMAGE USAGE AGREEMENT WITH YOUR PLANNER, VENUE, OR ANY OTHER PROFESSIONAL, I AM HAPPY TO BE GENEROUS WITH MY SHARING.

I PROMISE TO BE VERY RESPECTFUL OF YOUR PRIVACY AND TREAT YOUR WEDDING IMAGES WITH DIGNITY.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PHOTOGRAPHER?

I STARTED DEBRA EBY PHOTOGRAPHY CO. IN OCTOBER OF 2010.

WHAT HAPPENS IN AN EMERGENCY?

SHOULD SOMETHING LIFE-THREATENING HAPPEN TO MY IMMEDIATE FAMILY, OR ME, I HAVE A VERY STELLAR NETWORK OF COLLEAGUES WHO HELP EACH OTHER OUT IN SUCH A SITUATION.

I HAVE NEVER HAD TO CALL ON ANYONE FOR THIS, BUT YOU CAN REST ASSURED THAT YOUR DAY WILL BE HANDLED WITH THE UTMOST PROFESSIONALISM EVEN IF SOMETHING EARTH SHATTERING OCCURS.
