Rich Jewel Tone Wedding Inspiration

April 20, 2016 debra eby

Shortly after moving back to Florida, from Toronto, I became friends with a local florist.  She impressed me from the moment I first saw her work.

She pours her heart into every little detail.  This friend, Meghan, former owner of Flowers by Milk & Honey had a vision for a Dutch Masterpiece inspired shoot.  I eagerly said, yes, to shoot her beautiful styling and florals.

It was the first time our little group of artists banded together to create something pretty.  It was just the beginning of many more to come.

The palette is a deviation from what I usually capture, but I love the elegance and timeless appeal that it has in rich jewel tones.  All to the backdrop of The Maitland Art Center

Meghan's inspiration was Jan Davidsz. de Heem’s “Festoon of Fruit and Flowers”.  She said, "The painting’s dark shadows, blends of deep reds and yellows, and pops of vibrant blue draw you in to its world. We wanted to translate this glamorous and mysterious mood to a wedding celebration, because what better occasion to honor abundance and richness of life!"

Sneak Peek - Old World Glamour Inspo

April 12, 2016 debra eby

This is a peek into our Old World Glamour inspired shoot.  Images are under wraps for now, but I'm way too excited, so here's just a little peek into the pretty.

Inspiration

Come away with me to a crevice of Florida where Romanesque columns crumble whispering of a romantic past.

It is the Florida 1920's land boom.  The small portion of what is left of a developer's dream, the Rio-Vista-on-the-Halifax.  A development inspired by Venice canals connecting early Florida estates.  Today, there is something reminiscent of famed Pompeii in it's ruinous state.

This is the backdrop to our bridal editorial.  A shoot full of lush tropical greens paired with warm stone pillars and shimmering metallics.  Textiles of lace on the gown and on the cake whisper a timeless romance.

A modern gown with sheer backing blows in the coastal wind.  A juxtaposition of golden foil brush strokes upon natural tropical foliage.  Our inspiration is all about the modern day bride embracing old world elegance.
